RONIN TACTICAL CONCEPTS COURSES: 

Texas CHL:

Cost: $100.00  Duration: 10 hours

Renewal: Cost: $50.00  Duration: 4 hours

To obtain a Concealed Handgun License in the State of Texas you must complete the 10 hour course, qualify with a handgun in accordance with the DPS course of fire, and pass a 50 question exam. A student must then apply to the state and pay the current fees and undergo a complete background check for the state to issue a license. There is currently no requirement as to which order an applicant must follow regarding class and online application. The entire process requires the completion of both. Either may be completed before the other.

What to Bring to the CHL Class:

  • A Handgun (must be at least a .32 caliber or above)
  • A box of at LEAST 50 rounds of ammunition (100 rounds recommended)
  • Hearing & Eye Protection
  • Holster (if you have one)
  • Identificaton (drivers License or State ID)
  • The Course fee
The classroom portion is conducted inside and the shooting portion is conducted outside so dress appropriately for the weather.
It is encouraged that you bring a lunch.  There is a lot of information to go over and not a lot of time to do it in, Eating is permitted in the class room during the course.You may rent a handgun and but a box of ammo. Ask us about handgun rental for more details.

 

 

Defensive Pistol 1:

Cost: $200.00  Duration: 16 hours

This course is entry-level and is designed to give the beginner or novice shooter the proper handgun fundamentals. Starting with combat mindset, the class covers:

  • Proper gear selection and placement
  • Shooting stance
  • The draw
  • Proper grip
  • Mechanics of recoil
  • Grip, sight alignment, sight picture
  • Trigger control
  • Speed reloads
  • Tactical reloads
  • The four (4) primary malfunctions
  • Strong and weak hand shooting
  • Shooting on the move
  • Situation specific shooting positions
  • CHL Lifestyle

What to Bring: 

A functional and practical handgun chambered in 9mm, .40 cal, or .45 ACP. If available, a spare weapon system is also an excellent idea. A cleaning kit and tools that are compatible with the weapon system(s) in question is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of 3 working magazines. Sometimes magazines will make it in your dump bag and sometimes they won’t. If they hit the ground they can become fouled, causing weapon malfunctions and time off the line.

  • Note pad, and pen/pencil
  • Clothing suited to strenuous type activity as well as being seasonally appropriate
  • Appropriate foot wear
  • Rain gear / cold weather gear (seasonal)
  • Ear pro
  • Eye pro, which wraps around
  • Baseball style hat recommended
  • A holster and magazine pouch that will retain equipment when moving
  • Tools that work on your weapon
  • Weapons lube
  • Water hydrating device
  • Knee and elbow pads (optional)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Insect Repellent (optional)
  • An open mind
  • 500 rounds minimum compatible to your firearm

 

Defensive Pistol 2:

Cost: $250.00  Duration: 16 hours

Prerequisite: Defensive Pistol 1

An advanced course designed to take those with solid handgun experience to the next level of professional development. This is a fast paced, hands-on, super dynamic live fire course with minimal time spent in the classroom. Starting with combat mindset, the class thoroughly covers:

  • Terminal ballistics
  • Rapid threat analysis and acquisition
  • Shooting on the move
  • Multiple target engagement
  • Natural and improvised shooting positions
  • Barricade shooting
  • Shooting from vehicles (client dependant)
  • Concealed shooting
  • Low light tactics
  • Individual and team confidence enhancement shooting drills
  • Individual and team live fire stress courses
  • Drawing a secondary, or backup weapon

What to Bring:

A functional and practical handgun chambered in 9mm, .40 cal, or .45 ACP. A secondary backup handgun. If available, a spare Primary weapon system is also an excellent idea. A cleaning kit and tools that are compatible with the weapon system(s) in question is also a must. Each student should have a minimum of 3 working magazines. Sometimes magazines will make it in your dump bag and sometimes they won’t. If they hit the ground they can become fouled, causing weapon malfunctions and time off the line.

CHL Medical:

Cost: $75.00  Duration: 4 hours

 

If you are concerned about the lives of your loved ones, or if you carry a firearm for self-protection, this class is a must take.  From high-speed motor vehicle accidents to gunshot wounds and penetrating traumas, it is an essential that we have skills to keep people alive until a higher echelon of care can take over.  In the interim between injury and the arrival of EMS, it will be up to you to ensure survival of the injured parties.

 

This class is a short course designed to provide the medical layperson with the knowledge and skills to rapidly identify and correct common life-threatening injuries to themselves and others in the minutes following a violent encounter.  Topics covered will include an introduction to basic trauma concepts, and introduction to the EMS system, basic trauma assessment, identification and treatment of immediate life threats in a potentially hostile environment, and assembling a personal medical kit.

This class is taught by paramedics

Private Training Courses:

Cost: $50.00/hr  Duration: 3 hours min

This is one-on-one time with an instructor to answer your questions and help you meet your personal training objectives. Be sure to share exactually what you are looking for when you request this course

 

Women’s Firearms Course:

Cost: $100.00  Duration: 4 hours

This course is designed to address some of the questions and issues that many female shooters face. we have a time tested and proven method that will rapidly bring even the most timid woman shooting in no time.

Women’s Self Defense (Unarmed)

Cost: $100.00  Duration: 4 hours

NRA COURSES: 

 

NRA – Home Safety course

Cost: $50.00  Duration: 4 hours

The Home Firearms Safety course teaches basic skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for the safe handling and storage of a firearm in the home. This is a 4 hour course; all classroom.

In this four hour course students will get the NRA’s Home Firearm Safety handbook, pamphlets on safety and terminology and lessons on the rules of safe gun handling, identifying, and unloading various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and storage. Students will also get hands-on experience with the most common types of handguns, rifles, and shotguns.

 

NRA – Basic Pistol Course

Cost: $100.00  Duration: 8 hours

A pistol, or handgun, is a firearm designed to be fired while being held in one hand. While such firearms are small and compact, they can be the hardest to learn. The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course teaches basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely use a pistol. This is a 10 hour course. In it students will get the NRA’s The Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and intensive lessons in safety, gun handling, the various types of pistols, the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, various pistol firing positions, several practical exercises on the firing range, cleaning, storage, and a summary of pistol sports and activities.

NRA – FIRST Steps Pistol

Cost: $50.00  Duration: 3 hours

FIRST stands for “Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training”, a program the NRA developed to meet the need for a firearms orientation program for new gun purchasers. This FIRST Steps program is a basic courses abbreviated to the most fundamental shooting skills, and the specifics of a particular model of pistol.
This course, because of its narrow focus, can be completed as quickly as three hours. Students will get the NRA’s The Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook and quick practical lessons on the safe use, cleaning, and storage of their pistol. The practical exercise covers a single pistol shooting position. As the number of participants or pistol types presented increases, the course will take proportionally longer.

NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home

Cost: $150.00 Duration: 8 hours

Unlike the other basic courses, the Personal Protection course covers defensive shooting. Self-defense is a topic somewhat distinct from the regular diet of shooting fundamentals; it can cover mindset, legal issues, decision-making under pressure, and planning for the worst. The Basic Personal Protection in the Home course is designed around the use of the defensive pistol. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home handbook and intensive lessons on basics of defensive shooting, issues of self-defense, and other strategies for protecting the home and family.
Prerequisite: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, Or RTC Defensive Pistol 1

NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home Course

Cost: $175.00 Duration: 14 hours

The course teaches students the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective, and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. Students have the opportunity to attend this course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.
